Program Safeguard Services Mission Statement | Billing Guide | Online Fraud Course Mission Statement SafeGuard Services (SGS) will assure that CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) achieves superior value in promoting the integrity of the Medicare program by delivering the right PSC (Program Safeguard Contract) / ZPIC (Zone Program Integrity Contractor) and MEDIC (Medicare Prescription Drug Integrity Contractor) strategies, solutions, and services through superior execution on a sustained basis. The mission of the SGS is to help address fraud, waste and abuse by performing regional Medicare data analysis as well as comprehensive problem identification and research to identify potentially fraudulent Medicare providers. Additional responsibilities shall include coordination of benefit integrity activities among Affiliated Contractors (AC) / Medicare Administrative Contractors (MAC) in the Region, and dissemination of relevant benefit integrity information to the respective ACs/MACs.
