CMS Search Page Instructions

The CMS Web site provides a search page for all Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs), National Coverage Determinations (NCDs) and Articles. Below are brief instructions to the CMS search page. This link will bring you to the CMS Search page - http://www.cms.hhs.gov/mcd/search.asp?

STEP 1 - Select either Local Coverage or National Coverage.

By selecting Local Coverage, you can search Articles (All Articles, Key Articles or SAD (Self-Administered Drugs)Exclusion Articles) or Policies (LCD) (Final, Draft or both).

STEP 2 -Select the criteria you wish to search.

You can select the:

Geographical Area (i.e California – Entire State, California Northern, California Southern; Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire or Vermont)

Or

Contractor – National Heritage Insurance Company –

31140 (Northern California) or

31142 (Maine) or

31143 (Massachusetts) or

31144 (New Hampshire) or

31145 (Vermont) or

31146 (Southern California) or

Next select the specific means that you wish to search.

You can select:

¨ Key word

¨ CPT/HCPCS

¨ ICD-9

¨ Coverage Topic

¨ Date Criteria

Once you have selected one of the topics above, a drop down box will appear requesting more information.

• Complete the requested information . For example: If you select CPT code, you can the enter ‘71010’.
• Select the Search Now Button. All article and polices that relate to the above selection will appear
